PCR-I Welcomes Mrs. Mandy Tipton, Elementary School Counselor!
Help us give a warm Putnam County welcome to our new elementary counselor for 2023-2024, Mrs. Mandy Tipton!
We asked Mrs. Tipton to tell us a little more about her. Here is what she had to share:
“I was born and raised in Green City, Mo, and graduated in 1994. I was super involved in high school with sports and dance. I went to the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg where I was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. I was very involved with philanthropy projects, the main one being Alzheimer's Research. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation in 1999.
My first experience with mental health after college was at Royal Oaks Hospital in Windsor Missouri. I worked with children, adolescents, and adults in a lockdown mental health facility before spreading my wings and moving to Oklahoma City, OK. I lived in Oklahoma City for 10 years and worked for Integris Mental Health as a Certified Recreation Specialist. It was there I met some amazing Licensed Professional Counselors and knew I needed to go back to school. I earned a Master's degree in Community Counseling from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford Oklahoma in 2009.
Asher was 4 when we moved back to Green City and I accepted my first job in education as the Green City K-12 Counselor. The school counseling job required me to obtain school counseling classes from Truman State University in 2012. I worked at Green City for 4 years before accepting an elementary counselor position at Milan which I truly enjoyed for 4 years, but came back to Green City in 2019 to once again be the K-12 counselor. I met my wonderful husband Jamie through my Superintendent at Green City at the time Mr. Donnie Campbell, and as they say, the rest was history. We have been married 10 years and have 3 wonderful children, Asher, Channing, and Aria. I stay very busy with my children's activities. Asher will be a senior next year, Channing will be in 5th grade and Aria will be in 2nd grade. The kids keep us busy with basketball, baseball, softball, track, and dance!
Jamie was always encouraging me to take my LPC licensure test because becoming a licensed professional counselor was my end goal. I obtained that state license 3 years ago which has opened up so many doors to serve so many people of all ages through my private practice. Mental health is my jam and so important for everyone!! In my free time, I love traveling to various beaches, reading, riding horses, shopping, and training my dog Saylor to become an animal-assisted therapy dog.”
Mrs. Tipton tells us, “I am so excited to become a Putnam County Midget! I have a true passion for counseling and my heart is in elementary counseling. I feel like I do my best work with elementary kids. They are excited and eager to learn, and I want to equip them with lots of coping skills and strategies they can use when life gets tough!”
Help us give a warm Putnam County welcome to Mrs. Mandy Tipton, elementary school counselor for 2023-2024!
