Interact Participates in Purple Pinky Week Fundraiser

Members of the local high school Interact Club have worked diligently over the past few weeks to plan and coordinate a fundraising event to help eradicate polio.  World Polio Day was on October 24, and our Interact members sold items at lunch to raise money in an effort to make a difference.  Thanks to Paula Robbins we had over 100 purple cupcakes to sell in the commons at lunch on Monday and Tuesday, October 21-22.  We also sold purple bracelets, stickers to wear hats at school one day, and grape-flavored ice cream floats.  Many thanks go to the Interact members who helped coordinate the event by counting money, making bracelets, and serving cupcakes and ice cream floats:  Chloe T., Madison G., Daysha C., Kylie G., and Vanessa L. Thank you to our V.P. of Social Media, Samantha D., for posting pictures/videos from the week on our social media sites.

Five coaches also agreed to help in the effort, and a huge shout out goes to them also.  If more than $100 was collected in their name, then the coaches agreed to "pay up" with some fun activities.  Dollar amounts collected are listed below.  Coach Bondy hammed it up at a student assembly and wore a glitter beard for that day.  Coach Lindhoff dressed up in and modeled an funny outfit selected by Interact members, and then wore it for a whole school day on Wednesday, October 30.  Coach Smith will participate in a truth or dare this Friday at a student assembly.  Whichever one he draws from a hat is the one he will do.

The net profit to send to Rotary Foundation was $352.74.  That turns into $1058.22 when the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation matches our funds.  Nice work!  Thank you to everyone for your support!

Be sure to check out the photo gallery to catch Coach Bondy's glitter beard and Coach Lindhoff dressed like a lady. They were great sports!
