Melodies of music, a scent of paint, sounds of a sewing machine working away, and joyful giggles were all coming from the elementary lunch room last week. We wanted to show the importance of music and art in our schools and to celebrate these creative mediums. Students and staff enjoyed live music and artists during their lunch. We dressed up each day and had activities in the gym while we ate.
Students were entertained by Glenda Dinwiddie while they dined on Music Monday. We all had fun on Tie-Dye Tuesday. Tuesday and Wednesday students got to watch and talk to local artists, Gwyn Keedy, Jane McDonald, and Connor Evans. Gwyn showcased her quilting talents and discussed the process of quilting. Jane displayed beautiful drawings and paintings while demonstrating painting techniques. Connor joined in by showing students his talents in fantasy art with traditional mediums and computer graphics. A minion dropped by to help us celebrate Cartoons on Wednesday. Thursday was wear your primary colors and the students became the artists during lunch. This Friday we rescheduled our music activity, live performances from our very own Paul Riley and Walter Griffen. Thank you to all our guest artists, helpers, supportive students, staff, parents, and administration for making this a wonderful experience for all!
