Maintaining High-Quality Education in Milpitas Schools
Milpitas Unified School District (MUSD) provides high-quality instruction and a supportive learning environment to TK-12 students across 15 local schools. Dedicated teachers and staff foster curiosity and challenge our students throughout their educational journey. While MUSD’s strong schools are at the heart of our community, an important source of locally controlled education funding is about to expire.
Local Funding Supports Quality Education
As the world has changed, MUSD schools have also changed and gotten stronger with input and support from the Milpitas community. Without our parcel tax funding, Milpitas schools will lose approximately $1.6 million annually for the next 8 years. This loss will impact student learning, class sizes, program options, and campus safety.
Renewing Expiring Local Funding – Without Increasing Taxes
In order to sustain this locally controlled school funding in MUSD and prevent reductions to programs and teaching staff, the MUSD Board of Education has placed Measure E on the June 7, 2022 Primary Election ballot. Measure E would extend, but not increase, the existing tax rate of $84 per parcel per year for 8 years. Funds from Measure E would be used to:
