As the Ohio Parent Mentor, I serve as a vital resource for students, parents, and school districts within the Washington Court House (WCH) and Miami Trace Local communities. My role is to support families navigating the Special Education system, ensuring they have the necessary information and resources to advocate for their child's needs.

What I Do:
  • Guidance Through the Evaluation Process:
    • Assist parents in understanding the evaluation process for Special Education services.
    • Provide information on what assessments may be needed and how results are utilized.
  • Connecting Families to Resources:
    • Offer information about community supports and services available for students with special needs.
    • Help families access local resources, including therapy, counseling, and educational programs.
  • Building Partnerships with Districts:
    • Collaborate with school districts to foster effective communication between parents and educators.
    • Share best practices and strategies to enhance student support.

Who I Support:
  • Parents: I work closely with parents to empower them in advocating for their children, ensuring they understand their rights and available services.
  • Students: My focus is on helping students receive the support they need to succeed in their educational journey.
  • School Districts: Partnering with school staff to create a more inclusive environment for all students.
