The Miami Trace Local School District was formed on July 1, 1955, with the consolidation of five local school districts in Fayette County. The district was named after the Indian trail that ran from Portsmouth to Toledo. Miami Trace High School opened in the fall of 1962, becoming the first county school system in Ohio to be completely consolidated. Over the course of its six-decade history, Miami Trace has undergone numerous changes, adapting to the evolving needs of the school community.
