As high school students plan their coursework and electives towards graduation, it is increasingly important to use their Career Pathway as a road map. A Career Pathway is an educational road map outlining an aligned sequence of courses that prepares students for College and Career Readiness in one of the 14 Kentucky Career Clusters. Each pathway leads you to employment. It follows high school courses to postsecondary courses which lead to a certificate, associate degree, or bachelor degree.
A Career Pathway ....
- is a sequence of courses within your area of interest.
- will connect your career interests from high school to college and/or career.
- is an educational road map guiding you to the high school courses and post-secondary options relevant to your career destination.
- is a choice YOU make as you decide what is right for YOU!
Career Pathways connect high school to college and careers in Hopkins County in nine Career Clusters:
- Agriculture
- Arts & Humanities
- Business & Marketing
- Education
- Health Science
- Human Services
- Information Technology
- Public Services
- Science & Mathematics
The Kentucky Minimum High School Graduation Requirements state that students must have four standards-based learning experiences in an academic or career interest based on the student's Individual Graduation Plan (ILP). A Career Pathway is a tool students will use to achieve this graduation requirement and graduate from high school College and/or Career Ready and prepared to enter college or the workplace with skills necessary for success.
