Tobacco-free policies have been shown to improve student health. Under the policy that is now in effect for Hopkins County Schools, no one is allowed to use tobacco on school property at any time. This includes students, parents, staff, and visitors. The policy covers all tobacco products, alternative nicotine products and vapor products. There will not be a smoking area for adults. Tobacco use is prohibited in vehicles, on district grounds (i.e. car rider lines) and at outdoor events. Tobacco products will not be allowed when adults are with students on field trips or other school-sponsored activities.
