Hadiya Severin brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for education to her role as the OST (Out of School Time) Coordinator at Hemenway Elementary School. With a background in science, engineering, technology, and behavior education, Hadiya has spent several years inspiring young minds both inside and outside the classroom. Though she has roots that span the globe, Hadiya always feels a special connection to her West Indian heritage. As a first-generation American, she is always linked to her St. Lucian and Guyanese culture, she embraces and celebrates her background at every opportunity. Hadiya's journey in education began early, and she has dedicated herself to supporting young people's growth and development as long as she can remember. Professionally, starting as a science, engineering, and technology teacher, she quickly realized her passion for fostering excellence through education. Since her college years, she has been involved in after school programs, recognizing the importance of providing enriching experiences beyond traditional school hours.
Hadiya Severin holds her Masters in Public Health from Tufts University School of Medicine with a concentration in Behavioral Science and Health Communication and a Bachelor's from Oakwood University, an HBCU in Huntsville, AL. Hadiya's unique background in the sciences and behavior provides a distinctive style of program design as she values making education fun and meeting students where they are to get them to where they desire to be! Outside of her professional pursuits, Hadiya prioritizes spending time with her family and friends, cherishing moments that allow her to connect with her loved ones and her cultural heritage. Whether she's sharing stories of her upbringing, cooking traditional dishes, or participating in community events, Hadiya's devotion to her roots shines through. She also loves to travel and has been to several countries all over the world. With her dedication to education, her vibrant cultural background, and her unwavering commitment to supporting young learners, Hadiya Severin is poised to be a transformative force in the Hemenway Elementary School community, inspiring excellence and fostering a love for learning in all who cross her path.
