Mr. David Johnson
This is my 14th year teaching at Dudley Shoals Elementary. It is also my 14th year living and teaching in North Carolina. I am originally from Jefferson, Ohio - home of the Fighting Falcons. It is located in the northeast corner of Ohio where you are used to 4 feet of snow throughout winter.
After I graduated from college, I spent three years teaching as a reading tutor in the Plain Local School system in Canton, Ohio. It was hard to leave the staff and my kids in Plain Local Schools, but I am glad to be here in North Carolina.
I have two children - Emmalynn McCartney Johnson and Raylee Harrison Johnson. Emmalynn is in the fifth grade and Raylee is 1st grade this year.
I have many hobbies. I love to cook, especially with my grill. I love grilling seafood: salmon, tuna, swordfish, etc. I have also become a pro at grilling ribs and pulled pork. The best part is my home-made barbecue sauce. Cooking and grilling is a passion.
I also love music. My all-time favorite music to listen to is The Beatles. I grew up listening to The Beatles and their solo material. I also love The Eagles, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, ACDC, and other classic rock bands. It wasn't until I moved to North Carolina that I found country music. I listen to the Zac Brown Band, Keith Urban, and Darius Rucker, as well as many others. Country music led me to Bluegrass music. I am a regular at Merlefest now and have come to really enjoy Bluegrass. The Steeldrivers are my favorite bluegrass band. At this time, I can't get enough of The Avett Brothers.
I also love to hop on my Harley Davidson and take a ride. There is nothing like it!
