Mr. Jerry Goodnight

CANVAS is the learning system we will use - all course materials and information can be found there!

My name is Jerry Goodnight, and I feel blessed to be your teacher this year! This is my 9th year teaching, and my 8th year at Winkler and I'm so excited that you and I will share our classroom this year! I have a passion for teaching American History, especially through critical, historical inquiry, and love teaching middle school!

I focus on making my classroom inclusive, rigorous, and enjoyable, and do this through a focus on social and educational equity and community. This class is not easy, but it will be fun (I promise)! You will work hard, laugh, gain skills that will be applicable to the rest of your life, and will learn a couple of life lessons along the way. I'm so happy we get to share this school year together!

ALL course content can be found on Canvas!

“We all have a little bit of “I want to save the world” in us. That’s why we’re in school – to learn how to save the world. I want you to know that it’s okay if you only save one person, and that it’s okay if that person is you.”
