About Me!

Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jennifer McCarthy,M.A.,NBCT

I am currently in my 17th school year in Cabarrus County Schools and my 1st year as a Wolverine.  Currently, I teach AP AB Calculus, Honors Pre-Calculus, and Honors Math 3.  I try to gear my courses towards the student who is curious about how mathematics applies to the world around them.  I always strive to challenge my students mathematically and encourage them to step out of their comfort zone.  I expect my students to bring their best and in turn, I will bring my best.

I take pride in my own education, as well as that of my students.  I earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from UNC Charlotte in 2006 and a Master's degree in Mathematics Education in 2011.  For 8 years, I served as the instructor of Mathematical Evolutions at the UNC Charlotte campus of Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics and love to incorporate the history of mathematics into my courses.  In 2013, I completed the National Board certification process and hope to continue to improve as an educator and teacher leader.

When I'm not in the classroom, you can find me with my cycling club out on my bike.  I also enjoy hiking, kayaking, and traveling to see as much of the world as possible.  My motto is “work hard, play hard”.
