Trudy Mertz

I am honored to be a part of the OCS Program here at WCHS. I am looking forward to helping students grow and learn the skills they will need to become successful adults. I believe that relationships are a key foundation in any classroom. I enjoy making personal connections and celebrating milestones with my students. 

I have three teenagers, two of whom are students here at WCHS, and all three are actively involved in their schools and church. My husband is a K9 officer here in Concord and a military veteran. We have three large dogs who think they run our home. I grew up in Ohio but have spent the majority of my life in the south. I went to school at Wingate University where I received my undergraduate degree in psychology. We traveled quite a bit while my husband was in the service, but settled back here in North Carolina when he transitioned out of the Army. I have worked in CCS at both Carl Furr Elementary and West Cabarrus HS, where I was awarded TA of the Year at both schools during my time as an EC TA. I decided to go back to school to complete my EC licensure last year, and I am excited about this new chapter in my life inside the classroom.
