Introduction video

This is my fifth year here at Irvin, and I am very excited and moved by the warm welcome I have received from the school community. I am originally from Colombia and came to the US as one of the international teachers from Participate Learning to be a member of the Dual Language Program. I have been into Bilingual education for 21 years, mostly working in international schools accredited by both the International Baccalaureate Organization https://www.ibo.org/ and the Council of International Schools (CIS) https://www.cois.org/page.cfm?p=1906 , organizations committed to ensuring the provision of high-quality international education.

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Education with a major in English and Spanish teaching from Universidad Pedagogica Nacional, Colombia, and a Master of Science in TESOL from Shenandoah University, VA. In the present, I am an Ed. Doctorate Candidate in TESOL from Anaheim University, CA; pursuing my degree in 2020. Other certifications include Postgraduate Certifications in Applied Linguistics, English-Spanish Text Translation, and British Council Certification for the Teaching of English. I am also a Licensed Tutor from Lexis Education (https://lexised.com/courses/teaching-young-children-in-english-in-multilingual-contexts/) for teaching young children in English in multilingual contexts. I have also held talks and lectures for teachers and Student teachers in relation to Language and Literacy Development for Early Education at global education conferences, such as CLIL and TESOL Colombia.

I hope I can be part of the Irvin community for several years and to serve the community in the best of my capacities! Please always feel welcome to approach me.  I would be more than happy to tell you more about me and Irvin’s Dual Language Program!
