The Bremerton School District Comprehensive School Counseling Program promotes student learning and development in collaboration with families, educators, and the community, with the goal of preparing students to be productive citizens.

MVMS counselors help all students with their academic, career, personal, and social abilities.  The counselor is an educator who delivers a comprehensive guidance program in the school.  Counselors teach classroom guidance lessons on a weekly basis as well as respond to the immediate needs of students.  Mountain View School Counselors are Educational Staff Associates with a Master’s Degree in Counseling.

School Counselors assist students with:

• Transition to a new school  
• Registration and orientation process   
• Academic achievement and motivational concerns
• Future academic and career planning 
• Standardized test interpretation    
• Personal and safety needs of students
• Crisis situations    
• Family transitions (e.g. death, divorce, re-marriage, new sibling, etc.)
• Peer mediation
