Squire Scholor Honors

HISTORY

Thousands of students have experienced their sixth through eighth grade years during the twenty-four years that Mountain View has served the community of Bremerton. Many of these students have shown a dedication to academic excellence without recognition or distinction. In the spring of 2017 a proposal was presented to the leadership team to change this. With tweaking and adjustments, the leadership team accepted the proposal to have the students showing consistent academic excellence be recognized.

In order to be considered a Squire Scholar, students must maintain a 3.5 grade point average each year for the first two years and the first semester of their eighth-grade year at Mountain View Middle School. The students must also successfully complete four semesters of Honors or accelerated coursework. A third component involving a reflection must also be submitted showing the students’ integration of “Change” in their lives.
