Mrs. Dianne Sigmon

Hello! I am Dianne Sigmon and I teach 10th Grade United States History and AP US History. I feel very blessed to be a part of this faculty and school system. When I was placed at Etowah High School for my student teaching, I found myself in a system that felt like home. I was elated when I was offered a position in the fall of 2003. How wonderful is it that the people that nurtured and trained me would also be my mentors! Over the last seventeen years many of those people have retired, but the Etowah family is still the greatest!

I truly believe teaching is a calling, and this is what I was meant to do with my life. I have always had a desire to help others learn. Oddly enough, entering this field made me a perpetual student. All of the ideas I came in with, about what education should be, has changed over the years. I have realized I learn as much from my students as they learn from me! What a wonderful world I work in: when I get to celebrate students accomplishments, great and small, on a daily basis. Confucius once said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." I truly believe this.

I am blessed with a wonderful family at home as well. I have been married eight years, and we have four adult children - three daughters and one son. I have three sons-in-law, and a daughter-in-law, as well as two granddaughters and three grandsons. Nothing can compare to being their Granna!
