• I'm Sarah Baker

  • This year, I am a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher at Valley View Elementary School. I love my students and look forward to an amazing partnership between the students, their families, and our 2nd and 3rd grade teams.

I grew up east of the San Francisco Bay Area in the lovely town of Martinez. After earning my Associate of Arts Degree in English from Diablo Valley College, I moved to Riverside in 1999 to attend California Baptist University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and went on to pursue my teaching credentials. I have a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English. I have also earned a Masters of Science Degree in Education.

Our class represents Arizona State University. My cousins attended there and two of my cousins played football at ASU.  I had family in Tempe while I was growing up. I still have family in other parts of Arizona. My parents are high school sweethearts who met in Tucson. Arizona holds a special place in my heart and I am proud to represent ASU.

I have worked in Alvord Unified School District for 17 years. I started out as a guest teacher. I spent a wonderful five years at Twinhill teaching various combinations of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. After that, I enjoyed two delightful years at Arizona Middle School as a 7th grade English teacher. Now, I am happy to call Valley View my home. I have been here since 2012 and have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling to visit my amazing family and friends. My parents, brother, and sister-in-law live in Denver, Colorado. I love to visit, but the snow is not my favorite thing. I also enjoy reading. I have developed an interest in painting. I am still learning.

I am looking forward to a fabulous year!
