• Dear Alvord Families,

Conventional wisdom in leadership circles points to preparation as the cornerstone of organizational management. Few would argue that in the case of a crisis, as we experienced with COVID back in 2020, it's critical to have a plan to avoid missteps, particularly early on in the crisis management process. In fact, a crisis plan is a requirement and is part of a district's overall safekeeping plans. But conventional wisdom has shifted and now considers the quality and character of leadership as equally important.

The combination of a comprehensive organizational plan and the reinforcing influence of authentic leadership is generally regarded as the gold standard for organizational leadership as well as crisis management. As a parent myself, I want to rest assured that my children are immersed on a daily basis in a positive school environment. I also want to know that they are safe and, in the event of an emergency, that they are well cared for by professionals who are trained to respond to any situation.

At the foundation of authentic leadership is communication.  And at the center of communication is transparency. Our promise to our students and their families, and our employees, is to ensure information is current, accurate and interactive. We use Parent Square as our primary communication tool. Please activate your Parent Square account for two-way communication.

On behalf of the Board of Education, I will continue to communicate weekly, or more often when necessary, with our entire school community. Find my weekly messages here. Our leadership team, including district and school site leaders, have a strong external conscience and will continue to utilize a diverse set of communication tools to ensure we remain on the same page with those whom we serve.

To stay current, please read the Alvord Round-Up newsletter here. I publish it weekly at 6 pm every Sunday evening.

If you have any questions or comments, please Email Dr. Mucerino here and let me know what’s on your mind.

    In partnership. Thank you.

    Allan Mucerino
