Accidents

Any student or employee sustaining an accident on school property should be given immediate first aid by the school nurse. In case of a serious accident, first aid should be given by the school physician or family doctor. In all cases, the school nurse should be contacted first. If she is not available, the office and physical education instructors should be contacted for assistance. In each instance, the accident is to be reported to the office.

The parents of the child who is injured should be notified as soon as possible by the teacher, nurse or doctor, in order that they may be present or give permission for the doctor's treatment. Since a minor cannot be treated without parental/guardian permission, emergency medical cards with accurate home and work phone numbers should be on file with the nurse.
