Home Sight Word Activities
(1.)Scramble the letters in a word and ask your child to figure out which wordit is and put the letters in the correct order. Ask your child to read theword. Repeat for other words.
(2.)Child finds as many sight words as they can in a newspaper article,children’smagazine, or book (food containers are also a great real life resource)and circles them. Child reads all of the words.
(3.)Play “I Spy…” a sight word in the car (using road signs), in a book, in the store,etc.
(4.)Make flash cards of the sight wordschild places them in ABC order and reads through the list (top to bottom,bottom to top, etc)

(5.)Word sorts: Child sorts the sight word flashcards different ways, (followingyour direction or chooses own way) explains how they are sorted and reads the words in each group. For example, sort by beginning letter/sound, sort by# of letters, sortby ending letter/sound, sortby # of syllables, sort by rhyming and non-rhyming words, & sortby vowel sound.
