PCR-I Welcomes New Teacher and Coach: Mr. Calvin Heidenwith!
Help us give a warm Putnam County Welcome to another one of our Homegrown Heroes, Mr. Calvin Heidenwith!
Calvin is a Putnam County graduate (2017), and this will be his first year teaching. He will serve as the High School Marketing and Advanced Marketing Teacher as well as in the Alternative Classroom. Mr. Heidenwith is also stepping up to serve as our DECA Advisor. (Be sure to register for the 5K and help out our DECA students.) Calvin is also the Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach for this year and serving again as the Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach. In June, he enjoyed the fruits of his labor in coaching alongside Coach Robinson and our Putnam County Baseball team as they earned the 3rd place spot at state baseball!
We recently asked Mr. Heidenwith, "who or what inspired you to pursue a career in education?" Calvin responded, "I had really influential educators during my time at Putnam County and even during my college career. I value the relationships I share with those people and the impact they've had on my life. Getting into education, for me, is to hopefully be able to provide the same experience that I received to the students and athletes I get to work with."
We asked Calvin why he chose to come back and be one of our #HomegrownHeroes. He replied, "I chose to come back because I care about this community and the people here. I want to see this community succeed and grow. The youth are our future and it's important that we provide them opportunities through quality education. I hope I can positively contribute to their experiences at Putnam County R-1."
We know you can, Coach Heidenwith! We are excited to have you back at Putnam and our students are looking forward to having you in class and as a coach.
