Law Class Goes to Court
Last week, Mrs. Schoonover’s Business Law class, traveled to the Putnam County Courthouse to sit and watch a live court session. They were greeted by the Circuit Clerk, Mitzi Shipley and Probation Officer, Nikki Hinkle, where they both described their roles in the county and courtroom to the students and answered questions. Next, the students had the privilege of meeting the Third Circuit Court Judge, Jack Peace, and listened attentively as he described his childhood, education, his career in law, and his responsibility to the circuit. Afterward, everyone watched the court proceedings and witnessed individuals sentenced for crimes. It was a very educational and eye-opening experience for the high schoolers that then stimulated many questions and conversations about our state court systems. Thank you to the school administrators for supporting and allowing this awesome field trip.
