Homecoming Color Day Assembly 2018
Students, staff, parents, and community members enjoyed today's Homecoming Color Day Assembly. The band, cheerleaders and color guard helped kick off the day's festivities with "Onward Midgets" and Molly P led us all in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mrs. Lisa Stobbe was the emcee for the celebration and did a wonderful job keeping things moving and getting the crowd involved.
To begin the assembly, our Homecoming candidates were introduced. Riley R and Levi F, Delaney M and Hollister S, Alisha W and Will W, Tori O and Jacob E, and Guin A and Jordan M.
The Mini-Midget cheerleaders performed their cheers and a dance they had been working on with the High School Cheerleaders all week. Their spirit and spunk was contagious and put smiles on everyone's faces.
Mrs. Stobbe introduced all the fall sports coaches. The fall coaches introduced their teams, gave everyone the highlights of their seasons so far, and encouraged everyone to get out and support each student-athlete and participant.
The Color Guard delivered a beautiful performance. Our Varsity Cheerleaders performed their cheer and dance routines they have been practicing for competition. They were all well done!
A variety of trivia questions about the Roaring Twenties entertained the crowd between contests and games. The football team won the bragging rights for loudest crowd participation when they turned off all the lights and had everyone do the wave and cheer. The cheerleaders, band, softball team and golf team all gave them a run for the money with their dance-off routine, Go Big Blue musical chant, an impromptu rap, and a cheer. The crowd was on their feet, clapping, stomping and cheering for it all.
To finish the assembly, last year's Homecoming Queen, Madison H, crowned Riley R as this year's Homecoming Queen. Coach Bondy crowned Levi F as Homecoming King.
Congratulations to our King and Queen and all of our Homecoming candidates. It is an honor to be nominated and you all represented Putnam County well with your diversity of academic, athletic, musical, agricultural, and athletic talents. You had lots of Mini-Midgets looking up to you today and every day.
Good luck to Coach Bondy, football team and coaches as they battle the Polo Panthers this evening at 7:00 PM.
There is a tailgate at 5:30, sponsored by the #1 pork producer, Smithfield. They will be serving up pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans, and a cookie. Suggested donation is 5 bucks a person. All donations will go to our Putnam County Booster Club and our school libraries. Thank you to Smithfield for your generosity and for supporting our schools.
Let's Go Midgets!
