Football Field Dedication Ceremony Scheduled
Coach Dave Mitchell Honored
Putnam County’s football field will be named after longtime football coach Dave Mitchell in a dedication ceremony Friday, September 21, 2018.
Many of us know the names of famous football coaches like John Madden, Vince Lombardi, Tony Dungy, and Bill Walsh to name a few. Coach Dave Mitchell gave his own blood, sweat, and tears to help train, teach, coach and motivate his players to succeed on the field and in life. He will forever be known and remembered as one of the best high school football coaches in Midget history. Dave served as the Varsity Football Coach for the Midgets from 1976-2004.
A permanent sign will be installed at the entrance to the Dave Mitchell Football Field and a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 6:30 pm before the game against Milan. At half-time, Coach Mitchell will be recognized for his accomplishments. Memories from former players, students, and opponents will be shared at this time.
We are inviting all to attend, especially former Midget football players and coaches who played or served under Coach Mitchell. We encourage all former football players to wear their high school jerseys or Midget fan gear.
Please contact Athletic Director Andrew Garber at 660-947-3361 ext 343 or agarber@putnamcountyr1.net with any questions or memorable stories about Coach Mitchell.
