The Band-Aid Chicken
During classroom guidance Mrs. Roberts' kindergarten class read a story called, The Band-Aid Chicken by Becky Rangel Henton. Wonderfully illustrated by Harry Norcross, the story is about the pecking order of chickens and why it is important not to pick on others. One day the Band-Aid chicken decides to stand up for the newest chick on the farm, and stop the pecking order. This is a great life lesson on handling peer pressure and acceptance of others and their differences.
All of the students were able to make their very own band-aid chicken to take home and share the story with others. The students completed the two week lesson with a pledge to not pick on others. Great work students!
