Quarantine Procedure Updates
In this edition of 60 Seconds with the Super, Dr. Halley sits down with PCR-I School Board President, Mr. Brad Ream, to discuss the changes to the quarantine process for healthy students. The PCR-I School Board held a special board meeting last night (December 1, 2020) to discuss the challenges the district has been facing so far this school year in regards to COVID-19, quarantine, and student learning. The school board’s goal has always been to provide our students with the best education possible.
The board approved the following changes to the district’s quarantine procedures:
Beginning on Thursday, December 3rd, if your student has been identified as a close contact and placed in quarantine they have the option of learning from home during their quarantine or returning to in-person learning at school as long as they do not have any COVID-19 symptoms. If choosing to return to in-person learning at school, these students would be required to wear a mask during the entire school day (with the exception of lunch) and would not be permitted to participate in sports or other after school activities during the duration of their quarantine.
It is our hope that our healthy students may continue to attend school in person while finishing their quarantine and enjoy the benefits of in-person learning. Thank you for your cooperation, patience, and understanding as we try these new quarantine options over the next few weeks.
Note: If your student is experiencing any symptoms or is awaiting test results, please keep your student at home.
Update 12/4/2020:
Here are some points that were clarified today:
-
The school quarantined mask mandate approved by the school board is for 10 calendar days. After the 10th-day students will no longer have to wear a mask at school.
-
During the 10 day quarantine period, students will be allowed to attend school with a mask, as well as attend practice as an observer only with a mask.
-
Students on quarantine may NOT attend school activities or sporting events or participate in school activities or sporting events. This includes away games and activities as well.
-
Students who choose to come back to school wearing a mask while on quarantine must continue to do so for the duration of their quarantine. They cannot bounce back and forth between distance learning and home unless they become symptomatic.
