Seeing What Fits
Message to Middle Schoolers: Put Down the Controller and Try Something New.
While sports are always popular, seventh and eighth grades are especially good times to ‘try something on for size’. Middle school is a fork in the road for many students and kids sometimes lose their way. Even strong students may begin to lose interest. Extracurricular interests can make such a positive difference. Learning new life skills and being part of a group boosts confidence and a feeling of belonging. Giving it a shot, could be the first step toward a life-long interest. It’s ok if something doesn’t fit.
Trying something fresh is a proven way to keep kids interested. Humans crave variety and the experience of succeeding at a new activity breeds further success. With so much to keep in mind, here is a reminder of some of the opportunities available during middle school:
