Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are parents allowed to bring in treats for a student's birthday?
A:
Q: Will there be a kindergarten graduation at the end of the year?
A:
Q: Who should I call if my child needs to miss school?
A: Please call the office. They will immediately input the absence that will show up on my Qmlativ database. Otherwise, I will mark them absent and you will get an automated phone call stating that your child is not in school.
Q: What should I do if I think there might be a snow day?
A: Sign up for text messages in Blackboard. The district will send out text messages as soon as a decision about road conditions is made. You can also listen to the local news.
Q: What do I need to do if we are taking a vacation during school?
A: You will need to fill out a pre-arranged absence form in the office that has to be reviewed by the Dean of Students, Mrs. Walker. Please try and leave vacations for the set breaks during the year.
Q: What do I do if I want to volunteer in my child's class?
A: You will need to fill out the WA state patrol form and pass a background check to ensure safety for students. Additionally, you will need to attend the volunteer training seminar held at the school in September. Please contact me at least three days in advance so I can plan something that will be meaningful to student learning.
Q: Is the bus or parent pickup better?
A: The bus streamlines our system. The parent pick up line is long and you can expect long wait times. Additionally, our parking lot is very small. The bus can be scary for students and parents at first, but the sooner you put them on it, the sooner they get used to it and actually enjoy riding the bus. Each bus has a para-educator adult on it on the way home to facilitate hand-offs to parents.
