Title I Staff

  • Jessy Hay- Academic Facilitator

Starting my career at Culleoka Unit school for 5 years, I transferred to Mt. Pleasant Elementary School in the fall of 2005 to be closer to home and to be able to teach the children of Mt. Pleasant. I have been at MPES for 11 years and have taught 2nd and 3rd grade during that time. Being a graduate of MPHS, it was important to me to be involved in our community and give back to the little town that I love. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with my bachelor's in Elementary Education in 2000 and continued with my schooling at Tennessee State University for my Master's in Administration and Supervision. After college I moved back to Mt. Pleasant with my high school sweetheart, Michael Hay, because we wanted to start our family and have our children grow up in a place like Mt. Pleasant. Michael has been a Mt. Pleasant police officer for 13 years and is the Mt. Pleasant Chief of Police. We have 2 children 15 year old Madi, a sophomore at MPHS, and 12 year old Connor, a 7th grader at MPMS. Both are very active in sports such as cheerleading, football, softball, and baseball. Typically during any of those seasons, you can find me at a ball field cheering on my kids and the Mt. Pleasant Tigers.

For as long as I could remember I have always wanted to be a teacher and instill the love of learning in children. I teach my students by exploration and investigation of new topics and create a love of reading, writing, and math. Through hands on activities and interactive learning, my students are engaged and ready to learn but have fun the whole time! I look forward to working with your students and can't wait for a most memorable year of growing and learning!
