A community effort for the second half of the school year brought together several barbers and beauticians to give the students a fresh look. "When you look good, you feel good. When students feel good, they tend to do better in the classroom, behavior-wise and in school," H. O. Porter Principal Dedra Dawson said. "We were trying to be more open for the community, so people can see we are a community resource". Tina Easley and Fredrica Vaughn took the initiative to have community members join the event.
