    Sophomore Timeline

    • Keep your grades up. A good GPA is important when applying for colleges and scholarships.

    • Continue to get involved – join clubs, play a sport, participate in community service. Keep a record of all participation, offices held, awards, honors, etc.

    • Consider a part-time job and a savings account as you begin to think more about paying for college.

    • Make a list of reasons why you like different colleges – location, costs, size, programs, extracurricular activities, etc.

    • Use resources such as www.collegeboard.com, www.collegefortn.gov, to begin to explore colleges and careers.

    • Talk to college and military representatives when they make lunch visits to MPHS. Ask questions and get materials – that is why they are here.

    • If you are interested in attending a U.S. military academy request a pre-candidate questionnaire and complete it.

    • Begin to think about applying for Dual Enrollment during your Junior/Senior year. If interested in a technical school, there are programs available such as auto mechanics, welding and more for Dual Enrollment.
