Pre GED - Pre NEDP
The Pre-GED - Pre NEDP course is designed specifically to teach those topics covered by the GED testing service and also components a candidate will need to access the NEDP. This course is intended to provide the next sequential step from the Adult Basic skills curriculum, or to provide the adult learner who has the needed skill sets but needs to bolster and improve their level of literacy in reading and math. After successfully completing the appropriate course work, students will have gained the prerequisite knowledge and skills to access either the GED classroom or NEDP program.
Students should be aware that they must attain a minimum of 140 on the official practice test in order to progress to the GED classroom.
The intended outcomes for each student completing the appropriate coursework are the ability to:
Demonstrate and apply language skills through writing and the verbal communication of ideas in an effective manner+Explain and apply reading skills to social studies content and proscribed visual/graphics to show knowledge and awareness to national and global issues across content areas of the United States and world history, geography, civics, government, and economics
Demonstrate the comprehension and application of scientific knowledge in areas of life science, physical science, earth and space science, environmental science and health
Demonstrate and apply reading skills, using various literary selections and a range of writings that include prose, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, graphics, history, science, business, workplace, and community documents
Demonstrate skills in simple mathematical calculation, problem analysis, application of concepts and problem solving rationale in basic algebra and geometry
Demonstrate basic study, test taking, and reference skills appropriate for either the GED program or NEDP
Demonstrate job acquisition job retention skills
Demonstrate basic computer literacy skills
