I have been working in the Caldwell County School system for twenty years. First as a substitute teacher and now as the Art teacher here at Gamewell Elementary. I also attended Gamewell as a student. I graduated from West Caldwell High School and attended Appalachian State University. I graduated with a B.F.A in Studio Art.

Several of my role models growing up were my teachers. One in particular was my high school art teacher Mrs. Edith F. Carter. She made art seem magical. She illustrated the Tom Dooley story and gained quite a bit of recognition for her paintings. The Kingston Trio even came to Caldwell County to visit her. They had a hit song about the Tom Dooley story. I love art, history, and music and she combined all three to produce several videos about Tom Dooley, Daniel Boone, and The Brown Mountain Lights.

I love the upper region of Caldwell County especially the Wilson Creek area and the Happy Valley area. I am also a big fan of J.D.'s BBQ!

I enjoy playing music with my band and cooking and hiking and camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains and along the Blue Ridge Parkway..
