B.A. Romance Languages- The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Shea Bolick

I teach Spanish I and Spanish II at South Caldwell High School, where I promote language learning and proficiency and challenge kids to travel and seek out new cultures and countries.

I grew up in Caldwell County, and I have a deep love for this area.  I think it is important for students to cross the Hickory bridge and travel all over the world to serve, to grow, and to explore, but also to gain an appreciation of this area, their home, and family. I have personally modeled this belief through my travels to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, France, England, Costa Rica, and Guatemala, where I have had the joy of serving in communities and experiencing amazing foods, opportunities, and cultures.  To support these personal beliefs in my classroom, I created the Beyond the Bridge Campaign, encouraging students to gain skills in the present to support travel in the future.

I found my love of languages and cultures at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I studied abroad in Taxco, Mexico.   I graduated from UNC-CH in 2000 with a Bachelor of the Arts Degree in Romance Languages and a concentration in Spanish. I received my K-12 licensure from Appalachian State University the following year, while teaching at South Caldwell High School. I taught 6 years at SCHS, 15 years at Caldwell Early College High School and have now returned to  South Caldwell High School to teach Spanish.

I am proud to be a SCHS Spartan, and I look forward to this school year!
