Coach Harkey is a 1998 graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Physical Education.  He began his teaching career in 1999.  He developed and oversees the Running Club at Sawmills Elementary.  He also coaches Cross Country and Track at Draughn High School.
