The AP Capstone Program is a 2-year program that includes AP Seminar and AP Research. In order to receive the AP Capstone Certificate, a student needs to complete and pass both courses in addition to passing 4 additional AP courses at Cox Mill High School. AP Capstone Certificates cannot be awarded until the AP Research components (Academic Research Paper and the Presentation and Oral Defense) are scored and scores are posted in the summer following the submission of papers and PODs. As a result of this, seniors will not know if they are AP Capstone Certificate recipients prior to college applications. Enrollment and completion of the AP Capstone Program, however, is viewed by many colleges and universities as a prestigious endeavor.
