    Hours of Operation
-The CWES Media Center is open from 7:45 a.m. - 2:55 p.m. daily.
-Students may come to the Media Center with teacher permission during Open Checkout in the morning from 7:45 a.m. - 8:40 a.m.  Students should check in with their classroom teacher to ask permission to visit the library. Students should bring their student IDs with them during Open -Checkout.

    Borrower Policy
Students may check out 1 book at a time. Book selection and checkout may be during whole class checkout or Open Checkout.

    Borrowing Time Limit
Students are not held to a strict time limit or due date for library books. If a book is placed on hold that has been borrowed by another patron for a period of over 2 weeks, the Media Coordinator will request for the book to be returned and exchanged for another. At CWES, we do not charge overdue fines. All library books will be due May 26, 2023.

    Lost/Damaged Books
Students are expected to return their books in good condition. If a book is damaged or lost, the student will be expected to pay a replacement cost for the book. In the event of a lost or damaged book, please contact the Media Coordinator for the fee information. Checks can be made out to “Coltrane-Webb Elementary School.” Students who have lost or damaged a book will not be able to check out books until the replacement cost has been paid.

    Student ID Cards
In order for our Media Center and school cafeteria to run smoothly and efficiently during the day, we encourage all students to bring their Student ID card to the Media Center and cafeteria during their designated Media and lunch times. New students are given a student ID upon enrollment. Students who lose or damage their ID card will be asked to pay $1.00 for a replacement ID card. Teachers should submit student names to the Media Coordinator when a replacement ID card is needed. The Media Coordinator will create all replacement student ID cards in batches twice monthly.

    Collection Development
The CWES Library Media Coordinator strives to maintain a relevant and up to date collection. Student interest and input as well as Cabarrus County Schools curriculum documents drive the development of the CWES library collection. Collection data is reviewed regularly to inform collection weeding, physical structure and book selection of the Media Center.
