Scholarships

  • Mrs. Dickson is handling scholarship applications at this time.  She can print a transcript and seal it and mail it to you or she can send transcripts electronically to an email address.  You may email her your scholarship application and she can mail it for you.  Or you may mail it yourself.  Please forward all questions to Mrs. Dickson at 704-260-6699 or janie.dickson@cabarrus.k12.nc.us.
     
    Scholarships are ongoing. It is important to be mindful of deadlines. Scholarships are monetary awards that help students fund their post-secondary education. Scholarships can be awarded for a variety of criteria including:
    • Merit (academic achievement, GPA, class rank, test scores, etc.)
    • Need (family financial situation)
    • Talent (athletic ability, artistic talent, etc.)
    • Affiliation (member of ABC Church, Child of Rotary Club, etc.)
    • Condition (diabetic, left-handed, cancer survivor, child of a veteran)

    Webstaurant Scholarship - $5,000. Bi-annual Culinary & Hospitality Scholarships. A one-time grant to students currently enrolled in or planning to attend a culinary arts or hospitality management program. There is also a $5,000 scholarship for students of diverse backgrounds.  Deadlines for each semester are December 1st and June 15th annually.  Webstaurant Application
     
     
    Delta Kappa Gamma-Gamma Pi Scholarship - $1,000 will be awarded to a senior from Cabarrus County or Kannapolis City School System who is planning to enter the field of education. The deadline is Wednesday, March 1, 2023.  Gamma Pi Application
     
    PFLAG 2023 Scholarship - at least one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Cabarrus County/Kannapolis City Schools senior.  Identify as LGBTQIA+ or a straight ally serving and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.  For all criteria and to apply, click on the application link.  Deadline: Wednesday, March 1, 2023.  PFLAG Application
     
    2023 Divorce Stigma Scholarship - $1,000 will be awarded to a student enrolled or about to attend an accredited community college, undergraduate, or graduate program within the United States. Applicants must have a minimum current GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  The applicant must have written a 750-word essay explaining how a divorce experience produced a positive outcome for those involved. Application consists of a Resume, Current Academic Transcript (with a clearly visible GPA), and a 750-word essay.  The deadline is Tuesday, February 28, 2023.  Info for Submission of Application  
     
    SECU People Helping People Scholarship - $10,000 will be awarded to a current senior at an NC public high school who is a SECU member or eligible for membership through a parent/guardian.  Must be a North Carolina resident and eligible for in-state tuition.     Agriscience Business Scholarship-Offered to graduating seniors who are FFA or 4H members planning a career in some aspect of Agribusiness.  Deadline is Feb. 1st.  Click here for the application.  
     
    UNCC Engineering Scholarship - $10,000 renewable will be awarded to an outstanding student with high test scores AND financial need.  To qualify a student must: be an incoming freshman enrolled full time, study a major offered through the College of Engineering, family income reported through the 2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must indicate the student is eligible for a Federal Pell Grant, student must have unmet financial needs in excess of $5,000, completion of at least a pre-calculus course in high school and the ability to enroll in college calculus during the first semester at UNC Charlotte, have a grade of C or better in all high school math courses.  Apply for admission to UNC Charlotte and then apply for the scholarship here.     Matthew C. Graziadei Achievement Scholarship Award - $1,500 will be awarded to a North Carolina high school senior with a disability.  The scholarship is to be used for any post-high school learning experience/training or for equipment/technology needed for employment.  ALL North Carolina students with disabilities are eligible for nomination.  Including students enrolled in the Occupation Course of Study, students who will be receiving a Graduate Certificate, and students enrolled in the Future Ready Course of Study.  The deadline is Wednesday, February 1, 2023.  Aplicacion - Espanol  English Application  
     
    2023 North Carolina Extension & Community Association Scholarship - $800 will be awarded to a graduating senior. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students in obtaining a degree at any North Carolina college, in any field of study, with consideration given to Family and Consumer Sciences. The deadline is Wednesday, February 1, 2023.  Application
     
    North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program - Award amounts: up to $4,125 a semester ($8,250 a year).  Loan funds may be used to cover the cost of tuition, fees, and books. Fellows will be required to sign a promissory note agreeing to the terms of their forgivable loans. Information Deadline to apply Tuesday January 10, 2023.  Application  
     
    GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program - $10,000 renewable up to $40,000.  Application opens: October 17, 2022  
    Candidates must:
    • Demonstrate the attributes of leadership, integrity, drive, and citizenship within their communities, schools, and workplaces
    • Display strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent)
    • Be citizens of the United States of America
    • Be current high school seniors attending high school within the United States, (including any U.S. territories or commonwealths), and graduating in winter 2022 or spring 2023. Applicants living on a U.S. Armed Forces base and attending high school outside the U.S. are eligible.
    • Plan to enroll in a full‑time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four‑year college or university in the United States for the entire 2023-2024 academic school year.

    Transportation YOU High School Scholarship - $2,500.  For female high school seniors pursuing studies in science, technology, engineering, and math.  Students must have a 3.0 or higher GPA, intend to enroll in a transportation-related degree program, and plan to pursue a career in a transportation-related field.     Burger King Foundation Scholarship - $1,000 - $50,000.  For seniors planning to attend an accredited 2 or 4-year college or vocational-technical school.  Minimum 2.0 unweighted GPA.  Applicant submissions will be capped at 50,000. Access to the application will no longer be available once this number is reached. Consideration will be given to each applicant's academic record (40%), participation in school/community activities and work experience (40%) and financial need (20%).  This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America®. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin. Deadline: December 15, 2022 (or sooner if 50,000 applicant limit is reached).  BK Application
