• College Credit in High School

    CCHS students can earn college credit while in high school two different ways (see chart below).

    Why do this? Students can potentially leave high school with upwards of 2 years of college completed, saving themselves thousands of dollars.

    Students interested in any of the programs below should let their Counselor know at their registration appointment.

    • Students will need to apply, and in some cases, test to get into a program class.

    Career & College Promise (CCP)

    Juniors and seniors can take college-level courses at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and earn both hight school and college credit. Examples of classes include CTE courses like Cosmetology, HVAC, or Computer Programming or college transfer courses like: English 111, Psychology 150, many others.

    Tuition is free. Student pays for fees and for textbooks. ($50 reimburstment for book per course)

    Advanced Placement (AP)

    Students can take college-level courses at CCHS, earning both high school credit and potential college credit, depending on their score on the May AP test for each course. Students also can earn an additional weighted quality points for AP classes.

    Free, exams are currently free, paid by state of NC (10/31/14)   .
