Principal's Message

  • Welcome to Mexico Middle School!

There are a lot of great things happening at Mexico Middle School to facilitate student achievement.  We offer a robust AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program which includes AVID elective classes at the 7th and 8th grade levels and AVID instruction for all 5th and 6th grade learners.  AVID is a college readiness system that is designed to help students think critically, collaborate, and set high expectations to confidently conquer the challenges ahead. We hope to encourage students to start thinking about college and careers, and future opportunities!

We continue to offer advanced classes, including 7th grade Honors Math, 8th grade Algebra, 8th grade Biology, 7th and 8th grade Foreign Language (German, Spanish and French), and 8th grade Studio in Art. Our 8th grade Occupation Education class will continue to serve students who benefit from hands-on instruction and career-related opportunities. We have incorporated Project Lead the Way into the 7th and 8th grade Technology curriculum, which has been well received by our students. Three years ago, we launched our LEAD program, which is a continuation of the Leader in Me program that is currently in place at all of our three elementary schools in the district. This program prepares students with college, career and life-readiness skills that are necessary to thrive in today's ever- changing, fast-paced environment. We have a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Support in place for academic and behavioral interventions for students in need.

Over half of our student body participate in our music programs, and 7th and 8th grade students have the opportunity to participate in modified sports. We encourage all students to get involved in these programs! We have an After-School Activities Program (ASAP) that runs from 2:45-5:15 daily. In this program, students can get help with their homework and assignments, and participate in arts, crafts, and games.

Please remember that our Raptor (security) system is in place when you visit our school and you will be required to present identification. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (315) 963-8400 x4201.

I will retire on January 15, 2024. I have been privileged to serve as the principal of Mexico Middle School, and I am very grateful for the 18 years of support that I have received. I will miss you all!

    Sincerely,

    Kimberly D. Holliday
