Welcome back!

We know that students are eager to know what their school day will look like. We are currently cleaning up schedules, such as balancing classes, making sure students are enrolled in core courses and filling holes. Schedules will not be finalized until approximately a week before school starts.

Student schedules are based on students’ course elective requests and students are randomly placed with teachers, with the exception of clustered Highly Capable (in language arts and social studies) and special education students. 

In order to be fair and consistent with all students and families, schedule corrections will be made only when there’s an error in course placement, such as two science classes, a missing core class, or the student doesn’t have six classes.

We are not able to accommodate specific teacher requests.  Occasionally,
there is an extreme situation that might cause a parent to request a specific teacher for their student. Please contact an administrator to discuss your situation. The best administrator to contact is:

First Day of School - September 5, 2023

Supply Lists

The first day of school can be stressful for students that aren’t familiar with a building or staff, so we have scheduled orientation for all NEW Coyotes! This includes:

• ALL incoming 6th graders
• NEW 7th and 8th graders

The goal of this day is to create a smoother transition into middle school by providing a block of time for a “practice schedule run.”  Students will pick up their class schedule, then follow that schedule as they meet their new teachers.  ASB student leadership will be present as guides in the hallway and to assist students.

Returning  Student Open House & School Pictures August 31, 2023

Even if you were a Coyote last year, the start of a new school year can still be exciting and stressful!  All returning students are welcome to visit Kopachuck on Thursday, August 31st anytime between 11:00 - 3:00 in order to:

• Pick up and walk through their class schedules

• Open up and move into their new lockers

• Take their school pictures

• Reconnect with some of their Coyote classmates and staff after summer break!

Returning students- and their families- are welcome to stop by this “open house” session for as long or as short as needed to feel more ready for the first day back the following week.

Parent Open House Aug 30, 2023:

You will have an opportunity to meet our staff and visit classrooms at our Open House, August 30 at 5-7:00pm.  We will also be hosting an iReady Parent Information session in the Commons. Come and learn about our diagnostic and how you can support student goal setting and achievement at home. 

 

School begins at 8:15 am and ends at 2:45 pm.   For organization and planning, each student will receive a Kopachuck student agenda, courtesy of the Kopachuck PTSA and KMS. 

Bus schedules will be posted around the school entrance windows and may also be found on the district web site at https://www.psd401.net/departments/transportation. Routes and up to date pickup information is also available in the MyStop App.

Students in all grades will have their school picture taken.  Please wear appropriate school attire for the picture.  Picture packet envelopes will be available in the Commons and parents may access the Jostens PIX website via the following link: https://shop.jostenspix.com/register

Students who are unable to have their picture taken on this day will have their picture taken on Picture Retake day, October 7th.
