Counseling
Students can drop by to visit with a counselor before school or during lunch.
They also can complete a form located in the counseling office requesting to speak with a counselor.
We hope that our counselors’ introductions will encourage our students to seek help, when needed.

Hello! This is my second year at Kopachuck. I have a BA in Sociology with a certificate in Social Work from Washington State University (GO COUGS!), M.Ed. in Counseling from Heritage University, and my teaching credentials from the University of Washington. I believe that relationships count and that they lead to student success for ALL. My goal as a school counselor is to support all students with their social, emotional, personal, and academic learning.
A few fun facts about me: I am married and have an amazing daughter. I enjoy spending time with my family, paddleboarding, watching movies, camping, and traveling. I also have a yellow lab who is always ready for the next adventure.
I look forward to working with each of you. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. I can be reached via email at: hilderbrandm@psd401.net

Hey Coyotes! This is my third year as a counselor at Kopachuck Middle School. I have been a school counselor for seven years. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, as well as my Masters of Education in School Counseling, from Seattle Pacific University. I believe ALL students are capable of success. My goal as a school counselor is to advocate for students and help them reach their academic, career, and personal/social goals. Fun facts about me: I am married and have two wonderful boys. We love to play disc golf, ride bikes, hike, and play games. Other hobbies I enjoy are reading and quilting. I love being a part of the Kopachuck team and I look forward to serving our students and their families this year.

Our professional background equips us to work with parents and children in a number of helpful ways. Training includes a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Education with courses in personality and learning theory, child development and counseling techniques. We hold a counseling certificate from the State of Washington. However, we are not licensed psychologist/psychiatrists and do not provide therapy during the school day.
The school counselors are here to help you with your concerns. Please check in with your teacher to get a pass to the counseling office to sign up for an appointment. The counselors will send a note to excuse you from class when they are available to see you.
Parents can call the Guidance Department to arrange for student conferences as well.
