Let's Freeze!
We have continued in our matter unit by learning how matter can change through freezing, melting, evaporation, and condensation. Students investigated how matter can change from a liquid to a solid by removing heat.
For our experiment, they were each given a coffee creamer, our liquid, and a container filled with ice. They were asked, "Can we turn this liquid into a solid?" They decided they could. Then they were asked, "What can we do to change it into a solid?" The students suggested placing the coffee creamers in the container of ice. Using their knowledge, students knew if they shook it, the liquid would freeze quicker. Students took turns shaking their containers, which in return took away heat and began to freeze their creamers.
Students opened their creamers and enjoyed their yummy treat!
