DVDs4Vets Donation Drive
The Putnam County R-I National Honors Societies are hosting a DVDs4VETS Donation Drive this year as a way to honor our countries veterans.
DVDs4Vets started on Veteran's Day, 2006. With increasing reports of severely wounded soldiers returning home from Iraq, many of them, due to physical hardships, including traumatic brain injuries (TBI), were unable to easily obtain entertainment most civilians take for granted.
The mission is to collect as many new and gently-used DVDs and (new) DVD players to donate to area Veterans Homes and Hospitals. This is an easy way to provide entertainment options for our veterans who do not always have access to new movies.
Our donation drive is not only for the school kids -- we are asking and encouraging members of the community to donate too! Please go through your personal DVD collections and consider donating to this very worthwhile cause. If you have a child, grandchild, friend, or neighbor you could send those DVDs to school with them. There will also be donation boxes set up in the High School Commons on Veterans Days, or donations could be dropped off at any time in the Superintendents Office.
