Reptile Adventures
On March 20, 2019, the Zoology class and science club took a trip to Kirksville, where they visited the A.T. Still museum of osteopathy to learn about the origins of homeopathic medicine. After that, they visited the greenhouse at Truman State University, which contains a wide variety of tropical plants, cacti, and even hydroponic plants. Although this was fascinating, the highlight was by far, the visit to the herpetology department also at Truman. Students learned about a variety of snakes found in Missouri and about their importance to the ecosystem. They also got to interact with tortoises, skinks, and even legless lizards! If you are curious about these animals, don't hesitate to ask the students who went on the trip about them!
