Careers

Our Science and STEM programs are already bursting with promising research projects in need of a chairperson for our Scientific Research Committee (SRC) and our Internal Review Board (IRB). Volunteers would need to review research proposals and sign paperwork regarding their safety and appropriateness to meet requirements of the Discovery Regional Science and Engineering Fair and the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair. Typically, 4 – 8 proposals about a page and a half long might require review each year.  Ideally, committee chairs would need to visit campus at least twice each year and would need to request a standard OSPI background check. Persons qualified to serve on an IRB include medical doctors, physician’s assistants, registered nurses,  psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed social worker or licensed clinical professional counselors who have working knowledge of the research topic being reviewed. Persons qualified to serve on the SRC include persons with an MD, Ph.D, DVM, DDS, or DO with a similar working knowledge of the projects under review. Multiple persons can serve as committee chairs as needed. Please contact Tim Smith (tsmith@psd402.org) if you are willing and qualified to help.
