What are we doing?

We are committed to serving and uplifting all of our communities through the Pioneer School District website, including students, staff, families, and community members with disabilities. As part of this commitment, we seek to meet or exceed all requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. We continue to make updates and upgrades to our website to maintain compliance and make the site more navigable and welcoming for all users.

Our commitment to presenting every audience with accessible information is also reinforced by our commitment to plain language. We believe clear communication starts with writing and design that help all users quickly find, understand, and use the information they need.

How are we doing?

We strive to meet your expectations and needs on our site, but we recognize that sometimes we might fall short. We welcome and appreciate your feedback. If you need to report an issue related to website or document accessibility on any part of our website, send us a message at contact-us@psd402.org. Please include the webpage name or address and a detailed description of any issue you’ve found.

We will contact you as soon as possible and make reasonable efforts to identify and address the issue.

Why are we focusing on accessibility?

Accessibility is more than just a legal requirement — it’s the right thing to do. Accessibility aligns with and supports our mission and vision for our schools and our community. More than 1 in 4 adults lives with a disability, according to the Centers for Disease Control, and disability is intersectional. In other words, it interacts with and is influenced by our other identities, like race, ethnicity, gender, sex, national origin, and age. When we make the web more accessible for people with disabilities, we make it better for all of us.

Filing a Formal Grievance

We are committed to nondiscrimination with respect to persons with disabilities and to investigating any complaint of discrimination. If you believe that you or your child have experienced unlawful discrimination or believe that this site is not accessible, in part or in full, to persons with disabilities, please file a written grievance.

Once the district receives your grievance, the district will investigate the allegations you presented in an effort to reach a prompt and equitable resolution. Formal grievances must be presented in writing and should include:

  1.  The nature of your grievance
  2. The facts upon which your grievance is based
  3. Your signature

Please file the grievance with our Civil Rights Coordinator, Pioneer School District Superintendent Jeff Davis. Jeff can be reached at jdavis@psd402.org. Our mailing address is 112 E. Spencer Lake Rd, Shelton, WA. 98584
