Pioneer Families:
On February 17, Governor Inslee held a press conference and addressed further information about health and safety requirements in Washington State, including mask mandates. As stated, the governor announced masks will no longer be required at schools as of Monday, March 21.
What does this mean for Pioneer School District?
Masks will no longer be required in our schools as of March 21 as we take the next step towards normality. We will continue to work closely with Mason County Public Health and other state agencies i.e. Department of Health, Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, Labor & Industries and continue to collaborate to maintain public health.
Due to continuing federal mandates, masks are currently still required on school buses until notified.
While we look forward to the lifting of the mask mandate in our schools on March 21, we need everyone to follow the laws and keep up the good work following current guidelines. There are many factors that must be considered, and a list of tasks we must complete in the coming weeks such as updating testing protocols, updating signage, educating students, families, and staff about optional mask-wearing, etc.
We understand the social and emotional toll that the health and safety guidelines have taken on students, staff, and families, and are eager to move past them so everyone can focus solely on the education and well-being of our students. We are currently processing the guidance and will communicate with staff and families any updates as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience as we move forward together.
