Evans' Boutique Gets Updated

With the help of OHS Silver Cord student volunteers, Evans science teacher, Laura Goemaat is organizing and rebranding the school's clothing closet. Their vision for this “boutique” is -  one of a kind items the second time around.

Currently, the boutique is featuring light jackets, sweatshirts and Bulldog apparell. Clothing is organized into girls, boys, and gender neutral. Persons with items to donate can mark them "Bulldog Donations" and drop them at the Evan's red roof entrance. The boutique is always seeking shoes and any "Bulldog" apparell. There are also plenty of socks and underwear up for grabs, thanks to the Evans Student Council clothing drive!

The students who have been helping have set a few goals. First, they want this to eventually be centrally located and available for all Ottumwa students and families to use. They also want it to be a fun experience instead of an emergency-only resource. Lastly, they hope to have a larger space when the "Be the Best" recommendations roll out in the fall of 2023. "We want students to realize that donating within your community and being thrifty and sustainably shopping can be equally fun!" said Goemaat.
